Wicomico County Tourism and Salisbury University have been selected to host the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) 2027 Men’s Volleyball Division III Finals.
The news came earlier this month, as the NCAA announced host sites for preliminary and final rounds of predetermined championships for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons.
The Association received more than 1,200 bids from member schools, conferences, cities and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C. as part of this site selection process.
“It is exciting to bring the first NCAA National Championship to Wicomico County,” said Wicomico County Tourism Manager Justin Polizzi. “We look forward to working with our community partners to put on what is hopefully the first of many successful NCAA events in Wicomico County.”
Wicomico County Tourism will co-host the event with Salisbury University.
“We at Salisbury University athletics are excited to partner with Wicomico County Tourism to help bring the first-ever NCAA National Championship event to Wicomico County,” said Salisbury University’s Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Monica Polizzi. “The Wicomico Civic Center is an incredible venue that will provide a setting for a top-notch student-athlete experience. We are thrilled to co-host this event and continue to promote Wicomico County as a place where champions come to play.”
The bid was backed by the Maryland Sports Commission.
“The Maryland Sports Commission is proud to partner with our TEAM Maryland partners in Wicomico County and Salisbury University to bring the NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championships to Maryland,” said Terry Hasseltine, Maryland Sports Commission Executive Director. “It takes leadership and vision to identify these great opportunities; Wicomico County and Salisbury University stepped up huge in delivering a winning proposal to the NCAA.”
The event will be held April 22-25, 2027 at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury.
